“Every song LIFE put their name to has electricity coursing through it’s veins’’ CLASH Magazine
LIFE are at the crest of the current wave of UK guitar music alongside scene champions such as Idles, Shame and Fonatines D.C. and channel bands such as Gang of Four, The Fall, Blur and Parquet Courts. Their anti-establishment outlook and witty, off-centre social commentary underscores everything they do. Very much the antithesis of all things London-centric, the band hail instead from Hull in England’s north east. Energetic frontman Mez As jumps and dances around the stage with a death glare like Jarvis Cocker making love to Frank Sidebottom and the Sultans of Ping.
LIFE are set to release Album #2 in Autumn 2019 in partnership with PIAS, recorded with Luke Smith (Foals, Everything Everything, Depeche Mode) and mixed by Claudius Mittendorfer (Parquet Courts, Yak, Weezer).
Debut album Popular Music was released on their own label, Afghan Moon, in 2017 and made it onto BBC Radio 1’s best albums of the year, they performed a live session at Maida Vale for the BBC and performed high profile slots at the BBC’s Biggest Weekend, Glastonbury, SXSW, Reeperbahn and many others across Europe as well as touring UK & Europe with Slaves and Idles.
‘LIFE are everything you could possibly want from an artist – they are politically astute, angry, intelligent, gritty and air-punchingly brilliant – You remember how, years ago, if you’d had a bad day, you could play almost any Pixies track when you returned home, and scream along to make it all better? Well, LIFE’s like that.’ – God is in the TV
