Rbellion is an online music licensing and music copyright company that specialises in African music. After seeing the growth in African music in Africa and the diaspora Rbellion predicted that with the rise of African music there would be issues with music licensing and copyright law. Thus the business was formally set up in 2017 to help tackle this very issue – by providing copyright and licensing solutions for brands and video content creators who want to use African music in their creative content . Rbellion has established itself as an industry leader and today the company has relationships with major brands and clients including Vice, Sky Atlantic, Complex and Nigeria’s biggest film distributors FilmOne. CEO Judith Massia started her career at MTV over a decade ago followed by Vh1 then Universal Records. In 2014 she started working at Sony Music UK in their legal department.Whilst working at Sony she started working on her company Rbellion.com which specialises in music licensing for African and Global Music. She formed a partnership with Sony Music to launch Rbellion full time. She currently runs Rbellion from Sony Music’s HQ in London. Rbellion also has partner offices in Nigeria and the US.
